ATES KUSLARI Abstract – Synopsis

This Turkish series tells the story of 5 street children. They call themselves my “uprooted ones”. Ali, the eldest is 13 years old, a Gulayse girl, an autistic boy and a 6 year old little boy.

One day, looking for food in a garbage dump, they find an abandoned 40-day-old baby.. With childish innocence, Ali and Gulayse name each other the baby’s mom and dad and they will all start a family from then on. Now they will change their name and will be called “Birds of Fire”.

Behind the abandonment of the baby and these children are hidden secrets and forbidden stories. The years will pass, they will be adults and together they will overcome hunger, harassment, humiliation and all the dangers of life on the street and misery.

Then the truth will fight to come to light and the secrets will have to be revealed and they will test the strength and love of the Fire Birds.
